Tie-Dye Till The Day We Die

Among the numerous trends, tie-dye is the one that stayed. The term and the whole fashion of wearing tie-dyed clothes became popular from the Woodstock event in the '60s. This trend shot sky highs after famous singers like Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, and John Sebastian wore it during the Woodstock festival.

This picture aptly depicts the moment when this trend was soaring high. The sale of these pieces of tie-dye cloth was more than expected during the event. These pieces of clothing are most commonly used as a scarf, headband, a top, waistband, and numerous other ways. Tie-dye clothing is trending in the current time as well.

Go Ahead, Make The Peace Sign

Curious to know how the Woodstock event exactly went? Just take a look at the picture, as it is the best representation that you can get of the festival. The crowd basically appears to symbolize peace by making a sign with their fingers. On the one hand, people are trying to have a glimpse of their favorite artist, and on the other hand, it was a smart move by the girl to sit on the shoulders of someone for a better and clearer view.

As far as the eye can catch, the people seem to have enjoyed the event. Well, why won't they? It consisted of the best artists and performances.

Good Food But Not Necessarily Good Mood

Although, a lot of assumptions were made about the nonavailability of food in the Woodstock event. But, clearly, the picture depicts something else. There can be certain perspectives in which it can be viewed. However, the important point to consider is that food was available at the festival, and the people did not starve.

The crowd can be seen calmly having their food on proper plates with spoons. Although, one cannot comment on whether or not they liked the food because the faces do not seem to be expressive enough. Moreover, there were no such reports of starvation from the festival.

Bloomy Head, Sleepy Eyes, and Some Music Right Behind

What better combination than a hint of sleep with the smell of fresh flowers and someone to sing you a lullaby in an overtiring event. Every beautiful person's beauty can be enhanced by the freshly plucked flowers weaved into a beautiful crown. Ever since the vogue for tiaras began during the Woodstock event, females have abided by it.

Initially, tiaras were symbols of powerful and royal women. The fresh flower tiaras are just unmatched, even if you compare the ones with diamonds on them. Be it a tiara made of diamonds, flowers, or just leaves. You should feel like a queen once you place your crown over your head.

Women of Manhattan Taking Over Men

There is no way someone could state that men are superior to women. This era of gender egalitarianism began right when women left the comfort of their home and did things affiliated with men. This image accurately represents the power of females with elegance and grace.

The Woodstock festival was one such event where there were as many or even more women than men. About ten women even performed at the unforgettable event. Joan Baez, Janis Joplin, and Melanie believe Woodstock was indeed a successful event despite the difficulties and challenges that came along the way. It was most definitely a one to remember.

An Unforgettable Fest

The Woodstock event went on for days and was not just enjoyed by the performers but also by the attendees. The festival did not get boring or dull, even for a second. The energy of both the performers and the crowd remained super high till the last day.

The image consists of some star performers like Grace Slick and the members of the Jefferson Airplane band. They seem to be having a fun time hanging out with each other and are also arranging their instruments at the same time. One of the artists in a white dress appears to be quite fashionable. She definitely knows how to carry herself well.

Lonely Queen of Leather Art

Numerous trends got popular at The Woodstock event. One such fashion that gained popularity was clothes as well as accessories made out of leather. The picture shows her dressed and accessorized in leather from top to bottom and weaving something out of leather. The leather purse kept near depicts that leather indeed was in use, and various things were being manufactured out of leather.

Woodstock was a huge event, or rather one of the biggest events. Even though there were thousands of people, the organizers still managed to keep the attendees disciplined and things did not go out of control.

The Overflowing Bus

Without a doubt, the Woodstock event was filled with people. In fact, there were way more than expected people who showed up. In that hot and humid weather and an overwhelming majority of people, few of them had found a way out to enjoy the event with some fresh air. Such a genius idea to be on top of a bus from where the view is more clear as well as the air and place.

This picture exactly represents how populated the event was where a person could be lost and never found again. It also shows shirtless men, which distinctly proves that the heat was beyond imagination.

Some Faithful Workers

The Woodstock event was no joke. It was massive, not only in terms of the crowd but also the entire event. Of course, the event managers had various problems during the event as the people outnumbered more than expected. Even though the management to the crowding ratio went out of order, the event turned out to be a great success.

The reason behind the great success is the performers, but the ones who were not thanked enough were these workers who religiously did their work despite the difficulties. They could have easily bawled out in the crowd, but they chose to perform their duties faithfully.

Coverage of The Remarkable Event

The Woodstock event gained the limelight among the media in no time. As the event became one of a kind, its coverage became an important task for reporters and photographers as this event was sure to go down in the pages of history. There was even a documentary that was made on the event titled 'Woodstock.'

Some artists happened to catch the makers' eyes and got featured in the documentary; many of them were left out. Famous artists such as the Family Stone and Sly did not get featured in the documentary, whereas others like Joan Baez got featured in the documentary.

Good Vibes Only

This image accurately portrays the vibe of the Woodstock event. There was only music and good vibes in the air of the event. People thoroughly enjoyed and danced to the rhythm of live music. The three-day event went on day and night, and the party didn't pause, nor did the people at the Woodstock event.

These people seem to be having the best time of their lives. Bumping into strangers and still keeping the good vibe going was what this event was all about. The freedom and sense of relief of openly enjoying without being judged was one reason for the grand success of this event.

Concertgoer or Refugees?

This picture isn't from any refugee camp but the Woodstock event. All of these people are attendees of this event. Instead of coming daily from their homes, most of them decided to pitch their camps at the venue and spend three nights at this nonstop event.

The dairy farm belonged to a man named Max Yasgur, and he charged the organizers $10,000 for using his land as a venue for the Woodstock event. This was supposed to be a boon for Max Yasgur but turned out to be a bane as the damage caused by the unpredicted crowd cost him $50,000.

Beating the heat

One thing that is very clear by looking at the picture is that everyone has their way of enjoying the sunlight. Some like to sunbathe lying comfortably. Some just adjust on their bikes, whereas some are conscious of tanning themselves. Whatever the case may be, there is sure to be one common factor that binds them all together is that they all stayed!

Its three organizers, namely John, predicted the total cost of the Woodstock event. P. Roberts, Artie Kornfeld, and Michael Lang were $750,000, but when they estimated the cost at the end of the event, it summed up to $2.5 million.

The Panoramic View of The Event

As soon as the news of the Woodstock event hit the corners of the city, several moviemakers and photographers arrived at the venue. A photographer named John Dominis also took part in this remarkable event and took this noteworthy photo as well. He stated that "there are people younger than me here, but I still feel like their peer."

Even though the first aspect of this image is a black and white image, this event indeed was a colorful one. When pointing out the second aspect of the image, we notice the chaos, but the event again was a peaceful one, and only 2 fatalities were recorded and resolved.

Helpers From The Audience

All the arrangements were made predicting the footfall of only 200,000 people at the Woodstock event, including the arrangement for food. Now that there were double the number of people than expected, there indeed will be a shortage of food.

However, that was not the case at the massive event. People managed to serve the crowd of 400,000. The situation was combated quite well with the help of food donations that were sent via air to the venue, which included 10,000 tetra-packed goods, sandwiches, fruits, and water. The one's serving the crowd are volunteers from the crowd itself.

The Founders Hit a Milestone With This Success

The founders of this historical event are four entrepreneurs, and they go by the names Joel Rosenman, John. P. Roberts, Artie Kornfeld, and Michael Lang, whose efforts and determination made this event a huge success. These four men were involved in the Woodstock event right from the start. They changed the venue of the event three times, and the construction didn't even begin until the last month of the event

They planned and managed everything related to the event and did not give up despite the various difficulties they faced. They kept their strategies strong and made sure that the show must go on.

The Landlord Of The Venue

The picture shows an American farmer Max Yasgur and his wife, who were the owners of the property where the eminent Woodstock event took place. This land was initially bought for the construction of a dairy farm but later went down in history. The event location was listed on the National Register Of Historic Places in 2017.

Max Yasgur gave various speeches, motivated the crowd during the event, and cheered immensely. One of his sayings became very popular, which stated, "If we join them, we can turn those adversities that are the problems of America today into a hope for a brighter and more peaceful future."

Don't Forget The Hat.

In an event that ran for three days and had approximately 400,000 people, it can obviously become troublesome to arrange foods for each person. Rumors were spread regarding the scarcity of food and utensils at the festival. But, that clearly does not seem to be the case. If we consider this picture, we can see that food courts were also arranged for the attendees.

The girl can be seen patiently having her food in a decent way on a proper plate. However, she is also hiding her face with the hat, maybe to protect herself from the sunlight and tanning. I mean, who likes to get tanned.

An Escape From The Stress

The festival came as a relief for the Americans from the ongoing stress of the Vietnam war and racial discrimination. However, that did not stop the people from attending the event. People arrived in vast numbers, and as no one had anticipated that the crowd would be so huge, it led to slight unpreparedness.

The image shows how the attendees managed to make a shelter for them even with the restricted space. People had to sit in cars and had to cover themselves with clothes. For those who came from far-off places, traveling was an issue. People could not leave the venue and had made the vehicles their temporary home.

Jam-Packed Traffic And No Phones

The unanticipated crowd and lack of a proper seating chart led to the event becoming chaotic. People had to leave their position in order to search for supplies. It was a little difficult for the attendees to make their way back to where they were. Moreover, the nonavailability of cell phones was also a concern.

Leaving the event to go home was not an option due to the massive traffic on roads. Hence, as the picture suggests, people were left with no other choice than to pitch tents in the ground themselves, which is a general thing for the events which go on for 2-3 days.

Enjoyment For All Ages

The event consisted of people of all ages; even little kids were present there. But, the presence of kids in a humongous crowd was questioned by many. Parents always want what's best for their children, and it stands corrected. It is visible from the image that the kids utterly enjoyed being there, and the guardians were always around to look after them.

The happy faces of these children are proof that you do not always have to keep your kids in a protected shield. Sometimes taking them to a unique environment around different people makes it possible to open up more.

Can you see your Volkswagen?

Roads being jam-packed due to traffic in a massive event like Woodstock is only logical, but the condition was such that the performers had to arrive at the venue by helicopter. It seems like the attendees were well aware of the craze of the concert, as they arrived at the venue five days prior. Well! That was a smart move.

If a general birthday party can disturb the neighbors, imagine a road occupied with thousands of vehicles, from buses to cars to trucks, and the noise. As a result, the locals were affected. People were unable to recognize their Volkswagen because there were so many of them.

An Oscar-Winning Documentary

The Woodstock documentary, 1970, still remains one of the most precise documentaries made on a massive event. The shots were taken during the actual concert, which makes it 100% authentic. Till now, the documentary has had many re-releases with additional footage. It is directed by Michael Wadleigh and edited by a team of seven editors. One of them, named Martin Scorsese, can be seen in the image wearing a headset.

Woodstock has been a part of all major film festivals and has won an Oscar Award for best feature documentaries. About the filming experience, Martin once stated that he was so engrossed in filming he almost never saw the audience.

Woodstock Event 1969, a Masterpiece

The Woodstock event of 1969 was one of its kind. There must be a strong reason why, even after several assiduous attempts by potential organizers to replicate the concert, they failed to create the same magic and passion that the original event had. It wasn't for the lack of trying; the organizers had even contacted Max Yasgur, the landowner where the first event was held. However, he denied it.

The events of 1979, 1989, and 1999 were not even close to the masterpiece of 1969. In fact, the 1999 event ended on a terrible note. As the image shows, there was violence and riots involved.

Say No to War and Yes to Music

For many attendees, the Woodstock festival came as a blessing, as it was held in the times of the Vietnam War. People had already started realizing that the war had been prolonged, and it was becoming pointless. The crowd majorly consisted of people who believed in peace and music. It was the U.S. Army who airlifted the medics, food, and in performers.

You can witness the smiling faces shown in the picture. These are people who volunteered to supply food and made sure that there was no hindrance to the positivity of the event. Although the people there believed in nonviolence, a mishap occurred during the distribution of food.

Waited For The Favorites To Arrive, Till The End

The event was undeniably a hit, with the best performers and their performances. The crowd was thoroughly entertained. However, some performers could not make it to the final event. The saddened face of the girl that you see in the picture seems to be waiting for her favorite performer to arrive, most probably Iron Butterfly Band, as one can guess by the butterfly prop in the image.

The bands who were not able to perform on the final day were Jeff Beck and Iron Butterfly, who unfortunately got stuck at the airport. But, the absence of a few bands did not affect the spark of the event.

Jimi Hendrix Was Worth The Wait

The last performance of the festival was by renowned artist Jimi Hendrix, which was delayed due to the continuous rainfall. His performance began at 9 AM, till that time, many attendees had already left the venue. Still, he was such a loved artist that 450,000 people gathered to see him. However, some people left midway, which reduced the numbers to 30,000.

Jimi Hendrix was introduced in the event with his new band Gypsy Sun and Rainbows. The band was also featured in the Woodstock documentary 1970. With his amazing aura, Jimi Hendrix once became the highest-paid performer of the world.

Whopping Amount For The Performers

The Woodstock festival was certainly a unique event, but it was also extremely expensive. The investors had to pay a whopping amount to the bands to make sure that they got the best of the lot for the attendees. And, like the fact states, the event was a smashing success. Many performers like The Who, Janis Joplin, and Grateful Dead demanded the payment be made in cash.

The artists were paid double their usual amount. Jimi Hendrix and the team of Jefferson Airplane were the highest-paid performers. Vanity Vans were not available, which made the performers sit in the car's boot before they could hit the stage.

A Plethora Of Humans

The image exactly represents the scenario of the festival. Although it can be viewed with two perspectives, either we can see a plethora of people enjoying themselves or the improper management of the venue and over-occupied space. The former does seem to be more appropriate, as it shows the happiness of the crowd.

A total of 400,000 thousand people were present at the festival. Announcements were made regarding the massive chaos; still, people did not stop coming. The land where the event took place looked like a mini-city. The crowd did not stop dancing to the performer's tune, even for a second.

Traffic Can Also Be Fun

The condition of the roads that led to the event venue was no different than the actual venue. The roads and the event place both had almost equal crowds. People were arriving at the concert in huge numbers. Lucky were the ones who escaped the traffic and reached the venue smoothly.

There were people who left their homes with the excitement of enjoying the event but got stuck in the traffic. The long queues of vehicles were impossible to escape. Hence, some music lovers tried to make the 'stuck in the traffic' scene fun by singing songs and playing guitar, which gave a pleasant view as the image exhibits.

Man Behind The Best Rockumentary

It is not at all a hidden fact that the Woodstock documentary is one of the best to date. Now, let's talk about the man behind this brilliant piece of art. It's none other than the famous and multi-talented American filmmaker Martin Scorsese. He became an integral part of the documentary at a very young age.

The man on the right who is wearing a headset and seems focused is young Martin. One can easily make out from the image itself that the person is diligent and attentive. He went ahead to bag almost all the prestigious awards like the Oscar, Grammy, Academy Award, and BAFTA.

Oops! You Missed Out On a Van

It seems like the people who attended the event did not only come from different walks of life but also from different vehicles. However, the ones who came via van were considered luckier than the ones who came from small cars or bikes. The reason is the extra space one gets in the van compared to cars.

The event was crowded in a way that one could not even move a little. People were stuck in the same place. Hence, those who came by van got a benefit of personal space and a better view of the performances as seen in the picture.

A Lone Guitarist

Opportunities do not always come knocking on your door; sometimes, you have to create a place for yourself to achieve your dreams. The man in the photo seems to be very passionate about his dream of becoming a guitarist, and it looks like he is well aware of the fact that, in order to achieve your goal, one should just do what feels right without fear of being judged.

He is engrossed in his music and is not bothered that no one is listening to him. Who knows, maybe later in the event, he might have been surrounded by people who would have appreciated his skills.

The Road Of Happiness

It has been established that the Woodstock festival was the one that had happiness, peace, and music in abundance. Call it a coincidence or destiny, but surprisingly the road in upstate New York that led to the festival's venue was named Happy AV, as shown in the picture.

The street was nearby, which helped the locals have homemade food and some rest, after which they returned to the event. The locals also had a given advantage. As they lived close to the venue, they managed to avoid the traffic, the tiredness, and the untidy clothes, the people who came from far did not have that choice.

Water Pump To The Rescue

In concerts that are crowded and run for days, maintaining hygiene can be pretty tough. But, it appears as if the attendees of Woodstock were keeping themselves clean and tidy all day long. The photo rightly signifies that the people present there were in the right frame of mind. Even in an environment that had tons of music and entertainment, they did not forget hygiene.

Attendees made use of whatever they found. Both men and women can be seen washing their feet with the help of a water pump, even in a crowded space. People had to walk barefoot for the entire event, yet, they managed to keep themselves clean.

Just Feeling The Rhythm

The position of the girl we can see in the photo does seem like a Yoga posture, but it is possibly not that. It looks like some kind of a dance move, which is logical as there was music being played by their favorite artists, and it was Woodstock, nonetheless. Hence, the girl being completely engrossed in the rhythm is justified.

No one really seems to be looking at the girl, which might be because the rest of the crowd was enjoying the performance happening on stage. Music and positive vibes, what else does anyone need to groove along, and the people there had all of that.

The Girl With A Beautiful Smile

The Woodstock festival was indeed all about people with smiley faces, as you can guess by looking at that girl in the photo. Just like these girls, the entire crowd was invested in enjoying the performances in the best way possible. The event was all about music, dance, performances, and fun, with some of the best performers from around the globe.

The peace on that girl's face aptly depicts the environment of the event. Moreover, it was not just close friends or family who enjoyed the concert but even the strangers bonded extremely well because of their mutual love for music.

The Show Must Go On

It won't be wrong to say that the crowd at the event was definitely an enthusiastic one. Even after continuous and heavy rainfall, the people did not leave the venue. Rain or no rain, they stood there enjoying themselves to the fullest. Attendees did not even have an umbrella. They were covering themselves with a random piece of plastic that they might have found on the venue itself.

The rain was also seen as a blessing from the universe, as it protected the people from the scorching heat, and funny as it sounds, the rain did help the crowd in maintaining proper hygiene by working as a natural shower.

On The Other Side Of The Fence

Who would ever want to be on the wrong side of the fence in an event like Woodstock? I say no one, and so does the picture. The boy seems stuck on the opposite side of the concert, but his smile speaks volumes of his excitement even if he is not among the crowd.

The girl on the right side of the fence appears to be nice. She can be seen helping the boy to somehow get to the right side with everyone. However, as no backstory of the photo has been found, it is a possibility that the boy could have been one of the crew members.
